You do not need to be a coach, a teacher, or an expert in anything. You need to be consistent, honest, and willing to answer the phone.

Screening and training
Every adult with direct contact with young people completes background screening and training before that contact begins, and annually thereafter.

Lend the Institute judgement it does not yet have.
The Board of Advisors counsels the Institute from experience the Board of Directors does not itself contain. Advisors hold no fiduciary authority and cast no governing vote. They bring perspective, networks, and standing that this Institute could not otherwise reach.
What advisors are asked to do
Advisors are asked to attend at least two sessions each year, to respond when consulted within their field, and to speak for the mission in rooms the Institute cannot yet enter.

Tax status
The Coach Wren Institute is in the process of being established as a Florida nonprofit corporation and will seek recognition as a 501(c)(3) public charity.
Contributions made before federal tax-exempt status is granted may not be tax-deductible. Donors should consult their tax advisors.

The Institute works with schools, athletic programs, employers, universities, healthcare providers, foundations, and community organisations.
A partnership might mean internships, facilities, expertise, scholarships, or simply making an introduction that changes a young person's options.

We strengthen communities, not just individuals.

We invest not only in Future Leaders, but also in the schools, leagues, coaches, and nonprofit organisations that help them succeed.
There is a limit to what any one institution can do by working with young people one at a time. A booster club with functioning equipment reaches players we will never enrol. A league that can waive registration reaches families we will never meet. A coach with real training changes what happens to every young person who passes through that program for the next twenty years.

Those who give during the founding years are doing something no later gift can do. They are not funding a year of operations. They are building the institution itself, before there is proof it will work.
The Builders Circle recognises them permanently. Membership closes when the founding period ends and can never be joined afterward, at any level, for any amount. Members are recorded in the Founding Gallery of the eventual campus and in the Institute’s permanent record.
We are asking people to fund a promise before there is evidence. That is what a founding gift is, and it should be remembered differently.
